InterCOM, a student-run organization here at the University of Mississippi is organizing a story-writing contest. With a vision of getting 'more from less', this contest will be unique and different from what we have seen before because the word limit is six. It's time to not only unleash but challenge your creativity while keeping in mind the following rules:
Rules:
1. No offensive, vulgar, inconsiderate or stereotypical language allowed. Special cases where satire is used to spread a positive message MAY be considered.
2. Punctuation marks are not considered words and may be used to your advantage based on your need.
For example: "I am" is considered two words, while "I'm" is considered as a single word. Make sure you follow the laws of proper English grammar and spelling.
3. Cellphone shortcuts is highly discouraged but may occasionally be used to shorten your word count.
For example: "lol", which stands for "laugh out loud" will be considered as a single word.
Only popular, widely understood and Urban-dictionary listed abbreviations may be used and it is up to the InterCOM Board to approve or deny the use of such or any shortcuts at any point of time during the contest.
4. Please email all your entrees to intercomolemiss@gmail.com by October 27th, 2017 with the subject Story of 6ix.
5. The first prize winner will be awarded with $75. The second place will receive $50 and the third place will receive $25. The prize will be awarded in the form of gift card.
6. All stories will be cross-checked for plagiarism and any unoriginal story will not be accepted.
Intercultural Communication at Ole Miss (InterCOM) is a student-run organization which aims to promote intercultural interaction among the diverse student body at the University of Mississippi. InterCOM's activities on campus usually involves various project based engagement for students, faculty and staff, providing support and resources to help the transition of students from outside of Oxford, Mississippi and promote essential communication skills such as writing and speech via projects of interest such as short movies, online blogs, competitions, etc.
